A Day on the C&O in St. Albans – Photography of Ray Shamblen
Ray Shamblen was an aviation and railroad enthusiast his whole life. Starting in the late 1040s and into the 1960s he photographed trains and aircraft across the country and in the Kanawha Valley. One winter day in late 1952 or early 1953 he spent some time in St. Albans taking these photos which give a rare look at the engine terminal and other railroad activities on the C & O in St. Albans. We are honored that Ray entrusted our organization with these images, and grateful that he captured this day on the railroad in St. Albans.
