Our Cleanup Crew!

In lieu of an October operating session, our first group cleanup this year of our layout building and grounds brought out ten SACOM members to mow, weed-eat, clip, rake, sweep and clear. The parking area, surrounding trees, the building’s roof and gutters, everything was tended to. I’ll bet the trains inside will even run better now! A big thanks to one and all!

It’s 1972 all over again…

Our SACOM August layout’s operating-session will be held at the layout building (901 10th Street, St. Albans) on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, following our regular monthly SACOM meeting. A trial in reality

November 1, 2021 marked our layout’s very first practice operating simulation, when we ran both the “Hurricane Turn” and the “Handley Turn” out of South Charleston, taking specific manifest cars from that yard to spot, both east and west.

This was the first step in discovering the many “fixes” that are needed in track, electrical, rolling stock and motive power. All were noted.
